Have you heard of Anthony Robbins? Why is it that he is so powerful when he is in front of an audience, what techniques is he using and is there are method behind it?

The answer is yes and these techniques stem from the theories of conversational hypnosis which is used for methods of persuasion through neuro linguistic programming. This method of persuasion was originally developed by Milton Erikson in the 1960’s and has been continued on and researched further by Igor Ledochowski.

BRIEF DEFINITION OF CONVERSATIONAL HYPNOSIS Conversational hypnosis is the use of indirect suggestion and analogies to persuade the participant without the use of a formal hypnotic induction. So what this means is simply that you do not need to have someone in a chair listening to soothing sounds and falling into a relaxing sleep. Conversational hypnosis is designed to be used in everyday situations and conversations.

ENGAGING YOUR PARTICIPANT The first step is to engage your participant and discover what their problems or issues are. By allowing the participant to talk you are giving them reason to confide in you, remember to agree and sympathize so that the participant will lower their guard.

MAKE THE PARTICIPANT QUESTION THEMSELVES Now you use the participants’ problems or issues and provide a reason for them to question their own frame of mind. The best technique is to agree that it is a hopeless problem and there will never ever be a solution. This kind of technique is like a slap in the face that usually provokes a reaction of “it’s not really that hopeless” and they begin to think of solutions themselves.

STEER THE CONVERSATION YOUR WAY So now the participant is questioning their own rational without you directly telling them to. The key here is to continue steering the participant along the thought patterns of finding a solution with comments such as “you make a good point there” when that is the direction you want to conversation to go. If the participant starts to bring up a rational that is not the direction you want to go sometimes silence is the best option for example, they ask if you agree on a certain rational and you simply say nothing and look confused. Generally the response will be, “no that’s a silly idea, forget I mentioned it” and in this way you have not directly told them anything.

CREATE A CONCLUSION Once the participant has finally been steered to where you want it is time to put a conclusion to the conversation. This is wrapping the topic of conversation up and simply saying that you agree with their final point of view and that their problem or issue does not seem to be such a problem anymore.

These methods of persuasion are used by many professionals as well but it would be better to get more in depth information. Have a look at this website for more information.

Mentalists have been performing an art called mentalism for many years. Mentalism is considered a form of a performing art that involves the performer to use their mental acuity and the principles that are basic to stage magic to give the illusion of psychic abilities including psychokinetic, precognition, and mind control. Most mentalists also use hypnosis in their mentalism routines. Modern mentalism can be traced back to test given to people who claimed to have supernatural powers in the 19th Century.

The use of hypnosis in mentalism effects are varied. Some mentalists use hypnosis as a cover for their effects while others use them as a part of the effect.

Mentalism effects include many different forms of magic. Mind reading and mind control are perhaps the most common. However, utilization of effects to give the appearance of psychokinetic is also very common. During a mentalists routine, they will use two very standard tests based on the tests used in the 19th century. The most common is called the book test. During the book test, a spectator will be asked to choose a page at random. They will then be asked to choose a word, or words, at random and concentrate on the page number and the word, or words, chosen. The book will then be closed and the mentalist will attempt to read the mind of the spectator and find the chosen page as well as the chosen text. This test has been modified to become a more compact effect that can be performed anywhere. It is now performed using a deck of playing cards.

Another popular version of mentalism is psychokinetic. There are many popular ways to handle this. One of them is to make objects, as well as the mentalist, and even other people, to levitate. During psychokinetic effects, the mentalist will “make” objects move with his or her mind. Mentalists also use chalk slates for predictions and give the appearance of mind control. During mind control effects, hypnosis is commonly used. The most common form of hypnosis used during such effects is called covert hypnosis, or conversational hypnosis.

To use conversational hypnosis, they have to be able to achieve several simple tasks. First, the mentalist needs to get the attention of the person being hypnotized, and maintain it. Once the mentalist has the spectators full attention, they will then need to develop a rapport with the subject. Once the rapport is built, the mentalist can then induce a trance like state by using specific language. Once the subject is hypnotized, the mentalist can then present the subject with the suggestions. This can be done in a conversational manner that leaves the subject completely unaware that they are being subjected to a form of hypnosis.

Many magicians now use mentalist techniques coupled with hypnosis techniques. In the past, mentalists used their abilities for their own profit, more then actual entertainment. They claimed that they actually had supernatural abilities. Modern and contemporary performers mostly state openly that their abilities come from being able to accurately read body language, among other techniques used by mentalists. The abilities are shown by these performers as nothing more then a performance. However, some contemporary mentalists still maintain that they have these powers, yet fail the tests that are presented before them. Mentalists such as Geller still maintain that they have psychic abilities and psychokinetic abilities, however, can not prove it unless under their controlled circumstances.

Do subliminal messages really work? This might be one of the most common questions that you’d ask once you hear about this topic. These so-called messages which communicate with your subconscious mind have been used in therapies, marketing and advertising, which makes it quite useful when it comes to communicating to a particular target audience.

Subliminal messages are messages which pass through your subconscious mind, therefore communicating directly with your brain without being conscious about it. They may be in forms of visuals or audio, spanning a wide variety of medium where these messages could be put.

Most people believe that marketers have used subliminal messages to market their products. They may insert various words in video which are so fast that only the subconscious mind tends to remember it. Others say that some audio tracks have certain messages hidden beneath the audible range of the human ear, making only the subconscious mind hear these messages.

On the other hand, you might ask again: do subliminal messages really work? The answer would be yes. Since you do not perceive these messages consciously, it gets straight to your mind and tells the message directly to your brain. The result is a more effective way of transmitting messages without having to keep the conscious mind aware.

Because of this, subliminal messages have also been used in various therapies involving audio and video. Flashing words in very short periods in a particular video or inserting inaudible recorded statements beneath audio tracks are some ways on how these subliminal messages are used in such situations. There are also self-help methods which make use of these messages, which effectively changes the way people think.

Think of these subliminal messages as a way of communicating to your inner self. With subliminal messages, you could feel more loved, feel better about yourself, and just be almost anything you want.
