You're absolutely right - hypnotism has been shown to help people with different ailments, both with the physical and the emotional.

I just finished reviewing a galley (rough draft) about cancer which will come out in December. It shared how something called "behavior activation therapy" is a good addition to medical treatment, and it also helps overcome the depression and anxiety that often goes along with cancer.

One of the things the authors used was hypnotism to help cancer patients have a fuller quality of life. At first I thought it sounded a little hokey, but as I continued, I realized it totally made sense. I don't have any family or friends currently dealing with cancer, but when the book comes out, I'm going to pass it on to a few people who have chronic problems, because I hope it will help them too.

I guess my point is that hypnotism and hypnotherapy have been proven to help with all kinds of physical, mental, and emotional problems. :-)
